Freshwater fish come from tropical waters that are warm, typically between 74 and eighty degrees Fahrenheit. So it is important to have a stable temperature in your tank within that range. Immersible or Hang-On Heaters
Immersible heaters are doubtless the most common sorts of heaters that are used. Usually because they’re easily found. And they also are cheap.

Immersible heaters can be an eyesore, though, because you’ll spot them, and a few individuals don’t like that. A lot of folks prefer the heater to be concealed. Luckily , there are other kinds of heaters to consider that are not as easily seen .
Submersible Heater
Submersible heater means that you can submerse the whole heater into the aquarium. The heater is completely sealed so it can be fully decreased into the water. The nice thing about these types of heaters is that they are unobtrusive. You can hide them behind rocks or plants and you will not notice them.
Submersible heaters can be more expensive than immersible heaters, but many of them are quite reasonable. These types of heaters are way more reliable and can easily maintain a rather more consistent temperature in your tank. They are user-friendly, slim–so that you do not see them as much, and comparatively cheap.
Filter Heater
The filter heater is a really pleasant option to consider to maintain an even temperature in your aquarium. It heats the water as it moves the water thru a filter, so basically achieves a couple of things immediately. These heaters are way more pricey, but does hard duty because you will not need a filter, too.
One of the enormous pluses of this type of heater is it is set up outside of your aquarium, so it doesn’t occupy space in your tank and you do not have to take a look at it inside the tank!
if you’re a beginning aquarist, commence with the immersible heater, and then when you’ve done a little research and gotten used to the options out there, move onto the submersible heater or perhaps the filter heaters.
