Cute Pet Names: 5 Tips for Picking the Right One!

Posted on May 23, 2010 under Aquariums | No Comment

Are you searching for cute pet names for your new dog, cat, hamster or other pet ?  If so, keep reading!  Cute pet names are a very common choice among pet owners because let’s face it, what’s cuter than big eyes, wet noses, wagging tails and soft, cuddly balls of fur?

Even though cute names for our human loved ones might prompt other people to wince or do worse (ever seen the “Shmoopy” episode on Seinfeld?), cute dog names, cute cat names and cute pet names for other types of pets are absolutely acceptable .

Now, I don’t want to get too pedantic , but the dictionary definition of cute is “attractive in a dainty way”.  Words like “precious”, “sweet”, “little” and “innocent” are also affiliated with the word “cute”.  If you’re ready to search for the perfect cute pet name for your new pet, here are a few practical tips :

1) Hunt for names with repetition .   Boo Boo, Gigi and Kiki are recognized as cute names, probably because they’re associated with the repetitive style of ‘baby talk’ (and like pets, babies are high up there on the cute-o-meter).

2) Find names that end in ‘y’ or ‘ie’.  Nearly any name can be made to sound cute by including the sound ‘y’.  For instance , the name Doug doesn’t sound too cute, but Dougie…well, that’s another matter .  Alfie, Pinky, Snoopy and Tippy are more examples of cute pet names ending with the ‘y’ sound.

3) Choose names that are associated with being small.  Guppy, Baby, Bubbles and Petal are all examples of this.

4) Think food.  You know that expression “cute enough to eat”, well perhaps that’s why Cupcake, Muffin, Cookie, Honey, and Pumpkin are such popular cute pet names!

5) Pick terms of endearment.  Many people use names like Angel, Baby and Princess to address their precious humans, so why not use these names for pets too ?

There are genuinely hundreds if not thousands of choices when it comes to picking out a cute pet name.  Remember to have fun while you’re looking for the right one – and make sure that it’s something you won’t feel embarrassed to call out in public. Good luck, Shmoopy!

General Care for the Freshwater Aquarium

Okay, so you've decided that you want to own an aquarium. It is a good idea to get a Wish list before you buy a fish for the aquarium. Keeping an aquarium will require patience. Unfortunately, it is not realistic to go to the pet store and pick out just run Fish. Take a trip to the pet store to collect information window shopping and the types of fish you want to keep in your aquarium to be determined. Careful Research these fish to ensure that they are compatible for water temperature and PH, as well as the food that they eat. Be careful not to prey and predator together in the same tank. Note that freshwater fish species are more resistant than the Navy, and are less susceptible to water fluctuations.

One reason that freshwater fish are more resistant than marine fish, the salt water itself. Like all living creatures, a fish body needs Water to function properly. Water is absorbed through the skin of a fish in the freshwater environment. Alternatively, a salt-water fish is actually the salt water to drink, because the body fluid through the skin to be extracted by osmosis. The salt is then excreted in the form of highly concentrated urine. Freshwater fish are a good choice for an inexperienced aquarium owner because there is more room for maneuver in the water specifications. Some freshwater fish have a variation of up to ten degrees water acceptable. Vice versa most tropical fish can be only two degrees of variation in water temperature, it has not become rare for the novice fish keeper easily discouraged. Water Conditions are difficult to regulate and variety of fish, unfortunately, even the fresh water, are not the hardiest of creatures. Sometimes they do not survive these fluctuations. It is important to be patient. An aquarium can be run twenty-four hours before the addition of a fish at all. You might want to run to enable the tank and the filter with no decorations and plant life for a few days before the introduction of the fish. Be sure to clean the decorations and any substrate thoroughly before moving to the aquarium. Live plants are high in the new aquarium recommended as it will help the good bacteria are needed to reduce the amount of ammonia in the tank generate reduced. It is a good idea, the ammonia and nitrite test before adding fish to the aquarium. Start by only three minutes before four small fish. A general rule is to wait another thirty days before adding additional fish, which is the incubation period for most fish diseases. In addition, test the nitrite and ammonia levels before adding these additional fish. The ammonia levels should return to zero. This will take about a month.

There are a few basic Tips, the fish will remain healthy. Do not feed the fish. Any excess food debris in the tank, and then converted into ammonia, the toxic for fish. Periodically change the water in the aquarium. Replace about one-third of the water in the tank every two three weeks ago. This is the interruption to the to minimize fish in the aquarium, eliminating the need to remove the fish from the tank. Finally, do not forget to clean the filter. Follow the manufacturer's instructions, as some filters need to be replaced more frequently than other

Artificial Fish Aquarium

artificial fish aquarium
How do you really clean a 10 gallon aquarium with fish in it?

I have heard things, so many contradictory. I have 5 small fish and lost the tank in late April. I can see, gunk clinging to the artificial plants.

For weekly maintenance, you must have 10% remove and replace the water it has had with water the same temperature that added conditioner to remove chlorine and chloramines. Stresscoat works well for them. At least once a month, you will need gravel gravel vacuum with a vacuum cleaner and carefully from the humus. This time you may need to remove the% more than 10 to do your cleaning. Every week or two weeks if you change your water, take out the filter media and rinse it in the old water mill. Artificial Plants begin to build algae growth and the only way is to remove it, remove them and scrub them one. No soap or chemicals, however. The fish will not mind Your hands into the tank. Please have no lotions or perfumes on your hands that will pollute the tank. **
